Who We Are:
Derek S. Bauman, a founder of the Atlanta Screenwriters Group, was taught the ancient art of editing by the Dsao-Liang monks of upper Mongolia (Georgia campus). In his many years of studying the "Ferret" editing style, he has become a master, fifth degree. These skills were brought to light when Derek was shoved into a small, dark room that smelled of tuna and forced to edit all seven episodes of ASG Productions' "Getting" series. Afterwards, he challenged the rest of the ASG Productions partners to a brawl. We'll leave it to you to decide who came out victorious. Later, Derek showcased multitasking ability rivaling the Pentium III when he both acted and edited on the production of "Boy@nt!" In his spare time, Derek likes to order DVDs online.
David Alan Carr was created from basic household appliances as a servant for the evil scientist, Dr. Noonian Van Falk. After a freak Health Rider accident killed his master, Carr escaped and enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Using a Computer Science major as a cover for his main goal, Carr began writing for the school newspaper, The Technique, in a fiendish plot to amass free movie tickets to sell on the black market. Unfortunately, his editor, Michael D Friedman, was smarter than Carr realized. Foiling the plan, Friedman gave Carr an ultimatum: Be handed over to the authorities, or form an independent film production company. While prison life did sound tempting, Carr opted for the latter. Joined by four other local felons, ASG Productions was born and thrives to this day.
Michael D Friedman gave up his dreams of being a male hand model so that he could pursue the lonely life of a filmmaker. His first attempt came after he was sentenced to the penal colony known as the University of Pittsburgh. Hoping to free himself from the bonds of tyranny whilst earning a degree in English, Michael contacted his former revolutionary compatriot, David Carr, to help craft the greatest screenplay ever written. They ended up writing "Vinny & Jesus" instead. Friedman returned home in shame. Later, the two joined the crime-fighting society cleverly disguised as the Atlanta Screenwriters Group. Since then, Michael developed a huge ego directing the short "Blame Society." He used that ego to crush the spirit of Martin Kelley, landing a lead role in "Boy@nt!"
Martin Kelley, a.k.a. Crouching Emcee, spent years as a renegade samauri. He wandered the land in solitary, earning his keep performing hip-hop music and acting in several independent films. During his travels he helped to found the Atlanta Screenwriters Group, a powerful collection of writing warriors. His sacred writings ("Ladders" & "Present Perfect") were discovered when he unsuspectingly plotted to join forces with a rough-and-tumble subset of the group known as ASG Productions. They practice the guerilla style of filmmaking that matches his skills perfectly. However, as the ASG forces sought to steal his most feared scroll, "Boy@nt!," he was forced to direct -- insuring that its contents did not wind up in evil hands.
Jamie S. Wingler was raised in a remote corn field in the Midwest where he developed an acute addiction to white liquor. Disguising himself as a Navy Pilot, he secretly practiced the lost art of "Drunken Sailor," honing his 'stupid story' telling skills to razor sharpness (which may explain his odd fascination with the film Wing Commander). However, there is no truth in the rumor that he fought the evil forces of the Decepticons in the Battle for Cybertron. His scratchings, "Fop's Girl" and "Top One Percent" are self-indulgent ramblings that no one really cares to explore. Despite his best efforts as Producer on "Getting" and "Boy@nt!," the projects were able to be completed. Oh yeah, and he used to be cool.
